[Hunsrueck] F Prinz 1839 Germany/PreußenDienstag, 4. Januar, 2011 01:35 UhrVon: "James Keen" <jameskeen17@yahoo.com>Absender in den Kontakten speichernAn: hunsrueck-l@genealogy.netHello all!
Firstly I apologise for not writing in German since unfortunately my grasp of
the language is only very basic. Secondly, whilst I have some experience with
the Westerwald mailing list, I've only just signed up to this one too, so this
is a bit of a new venture for me into Hunsrueck. Just to say my name is James
Keen, and I am currently living in Oxford, England.
I have been doing genealogy research and have traced my family back to an
ancestor who was born in Germany.
According to England census records, Frederick Prinz was born around 1839
somewhere in Germany (the record transcriptions are rather poor). The census
records I have state his birthplace as 'Grumboch' or 'Guimhach' or 'Greenback'
which I have been trying to guess where this is.
I first thought that Frederick was born in Grunebach, Altenkirchen however
through various research paths over the last few months providing no results I
now think that this place was assumed incorrectly.
I now think that Frederick was born probably in Grumbach, Kusel. Researchers
have also suggested that Krumbach-Asbach or Fränkisch-Crumbach could be
possibilities.
I have been unable to find an emigration record for Frederick, however I know
that he was in London, England by the time of the 1861 Census, and that he
married in 1863 with the marriage certificate listing his father as George
Prinz. The occupation of both Frederick and his father was that of bakers, I was
advised this may be an important detail. Unfortunately I do not know the
religion of the Prinz family, though I do appreciate that this is important, but
I have no way of finding this out it seems. I think that is all the information
that I know, apologies if I've missed something out, just ask and I'll see if I
can provide any updated information.
Whilst there are several researchers who I have continued correspondence with
through the Westerwald mailing list, I was advised to widen my correspondence to
include the Hunsrueck mailing list to see if anyone else out there is able to
help me out at all. I'm still rather new and inexperienced with trying to
conduct genealogy research in Germany.
I would greatly appreciate any advice and assistance that anyone is able to
provide in regards to my ongoing research.
Kind regards,
James
